Pause and Reflect

Ever since the new year began, I have been focusing on how I can make this new year better than ever. 2020 was a year of growth and self-discovery. 2020 has helped me realize how I can improve my relationship not only with God but with myself.
I mentioned in a previous blog post, that we as individuals should not be invested in our past and present but in the current state that we are in.
If you are in a new season in your life that is causing you to be in distress, whether that's;
becoming a new mom
starting a business
getting out of a relationship
or anything that is making you think when is it going to "get better."
I am right with ya!
Let's pause and reflect on the things that are causing you to be worrisome.
Philippians 2:1-4
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
As I reread these verses, I couldn't help but feel conviction on my own. Many times, we focus on ourselves rather than seeing God in it. We try to be the best version of ourselves or we try to out-do people or want to seek praise for just doing tasks that God calls us to do.
Verse 2:
"..working together with one mind and purpose."
We as Christ Followers should be running after purpose together.
Purpose Together: Bringing more people to know Christ and to know what brings glory to His name.
Instead, we selfishly try to impress others with our lifestyle. The idea of comparison on how much we money we make, or how good of a parent we are or how perfect your marriage or relationships are.
Verse 4:
"Don't look out only for your own interests.."
As humans, it's natural for us to only think about our self. This verse brings on a challenge that we as believers need to not focus so much on ourselves rather to think of others.
That is a challenge for us. It takes time and discipline.
Worry can be overcome through our confidence in God. Knowing that all we do is to bring glory to Him. The little things are just little things that will be looked at one day as growing stones.
Pause and reflect on what is already in front of you.
The people in your life.
The family that you built.
The work you succeed in.
The knowing that you have a safe spot in heaven.
