DAY 1 (DEVOTIONAL PLAN)

In the Image of God

Genesis 1:26-27:

Then God said, “Let us make human beings

in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth,

and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

27So God created human beings

in his own image.

In the image of God he created them;

male and female he created them.

Question: What does it mean to you to be made “in the image of God?”

To my understanding, God made us for a purpose with a purpose. His plans are to watch us prosper and everything we do should be honoring to Him.

The definition of Image: a representation of the external form of a person or thing in art.

The image of us is not what we look like but what we represent. Our image is who we are as Christ-followers. Our beliefs are our only possession that God gave. We were created to serve and to honor His mighty name.

If you are someone like me, I had a hard time believing that I was made with a purpose. I can not tell you the number of times I doubted myself and my own beliefs. When my relationship with Christ grew, I had a better understanding that God’s creation for my life was designed with meaning and that gave me the ability to trust Him with all that I was designed for.

Question: What is holding you back from believing you were made with a purpose and for a purpose?

It is important to grow your relationship with Christ because that allows you to get a true understanding of what you were created for. He makes no mistake. You were created by God, how cool is that!

Activity:

Get a couple of sticky notes and write down on each one a word that describes you. Once you are finished stick them on your mirror and look at what God created.
