Choose Wisely

"You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another."

-Proverbs 27:17

God had blessed me with such a beautiful group of individuals. It started with my best friend, Priscilla. The day I was baptized Priscilla reached out to me and congratulated me (we followed each other on social media, knew of each other from high school). We became incredibly close so quickly. The first time we met up, we had a Bible study. That Bible study was the start of a great friendship. I remember sharing my testimony with her. I remember no judgment, just the willingness to listen. After that day we kept hanging out and soon called each other best friends. I told her about the church I was attending and she mentioned she used to attend but would love to go back.

Sunday’s went by and she was coming with me to church every Sunday. We even used to grab brunch after service. Sunday’s were the days we both looked forward to.

One service they mentioned connect groups and how everyone should join one. Priscilla and I both made the choice to find a group. Her and I were nervous about joining a whole group of Christ followers because we were not sure how it would be like.

Priscilla and I shared stories about our lives that were personal and deep. We did not know how other’s would react to our personal lives. We trusted each other. That is how we became so close.

But we soon found out after the first meeting with the group, we were wrong. They were just like us. They did not all have it together and they expressed that. Which made Priscilla and I feel comfortable to share. I remember sharing my testimony the first night to complete strangers. I had no idea what their reaction would be like but they were all so supportive and gave me advice that I still cherish til this day.

After the first meet up, we started attending our connect group weekly. We quickly became great friends with everyone. The leader of the group, Helman. What a beautiful heart he has. He has such a gift of speaking and being a great mentor for this new generation.

Just a quick shoutout to my beautiful friends.

You have all inspired me. You have all listened to me. You have all prayed for me and spoke some Godly wisdom in me. For that, I am so eternally grateful for you all. Thank you for being there. Thank you for being true friends. I love you all.

Within the last few months, I have met so many new people my heart is just flooded with love. In March, I started serving with the youth ministry.

What an impact my life has been with the youth ministry. I never imagined to have met such incredible leaders that poor into young hearts each and every week. Their dedication and commitment has made me dedicate and commit to being a youth leader.

Shout out to my youth ministry family.

I can’t imagine my life without you guys. From the beginning, you all have welcomed me into this ministry with open arms and for that I am so thankful. You made being a youth leader impactful to not only the youth but for me. Each of you have pushed me and motivated me to be a youth leader. Thank you. You all are truly incredible friends to have. I love you all.

I want to give a separate praise to Tony and Tori. You both have are two incredible individuals. You both inspire me in ways you will never know. I am glad to call you both family. You give me so much hope for the future, you both have stepped out of your comfort zones and are impacting so many young lives. That is truly inspiring.

When I was in the process of getting involved with the youth ministry. I was introduced to these two powerful women, Pastor Maria and Pastor Esther.

Pastor Maria. All I have to say is... wow. I never met a women that makes you feel so good every time you see them. You truly are such a wonderful mentor, pastor and person. You are always 100% real and 100% right all the time. Your love and dedication to Christ is so pure. Your passion and willingness to see others get to their potential in life is wholesome.

Pastor Esther. You believed in me when I did not even believe in myself. You have motivated me and cared for me. You have the sweetest of souls. You are so genuine and humble, it’s overwhelmingly wonderful. I am so blessed to have a leader like you in my life. Thank you for thinking of me to be on your Next Steps ministry team. What an honor to serve along side of you.

Also shout out to Pastor Esther for introducing me to my new soul sister of Christ, Priscila.

The reason I am praising all these people above is because maybe you are reading this and may not have the best group of friends or sometimes feel alone. I can relate. I was once there. The moment I decided to get a little uncomfortable and to introduce myself to all these individuals I soon became comfortable. Maybe it’s time to step up and get involved. Talk to a church leader and figure out an area where you feel good. I started off with one friend and now I have a group of indescribable, a little crazy (aren’t we all), imperfect, God loving friends. I would not trade them for the world!

As I started thinking about all the people that have impacted me, I am amazed how many people God has placed in my life. I am also amazed in how God changed my life in the matter of just a few years.

I started attending Potential Church in 2017.

In 2018 I completely surrendered my life to Jesus.

I was baptized in April 2018.

Priscilla and I became best friends in April 2018.

I started attending a connect group in August 2018.

I joined youth ministry in March 2019.

In October 2019 I was asked to be apart of the Next Steps ministry team.

For everyone listed above, thank you.
