Book of Psalms (31-35)

Hey friends,

Psalms is one of my favorite books in the bible. My life verse comes from Psalms (46:5). Each week, I will be posting 5 chapters at a time.

Disclaimer: My Bible is NLT. I will be referencing from NTL for the most part but for better understanding I may switch to a different translation. I will be sharing how I view the word and what God is speaking to me as I read.

Let’s jump into the word!

Chapter 31:

I love what chapter 31 verse 5 says; "I entrust my spirit into your hand. Rescue me, Lord, for you are a faithful God. David is confident that God will remain faithful to him as long as he puts his trust in His word. Your future is in His hands. Chapter 31 is just a friendly reminder that if we put our trust in Christ, His unfailing love shines through us. In any circumstance, Christ is our safe place. When we face troubles and sin tries to take over us, He reminds us that sin drains our strength. We are to turn over our fears to the Lord. The chapter ends with such an encouraging message, "So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord. Chapter 32: Have you ever listened to the song "secret place?" I highly recommend listening to it if you have not. When I read this chapter it made me think of that song. "For you are my hiding place." I am most at peace with God when I shut my door and worship in my bedroom. I have zero distractions and I feel safe in my room when it is just a conversation between Him and I. Of course, you can pray or jam out to a good worship song anywhere. I just feel much more at ease. Whenever I feel an urge to pray if I am home I just go to my "secret place." Most of my many powerful prayers came from my secret place. Do you have a secret place? Maybe you are like me and it is your bedroom. Or your car? Or your shower? Where is the place you feel safe to talk to God? Chapter 33/34: These two chapters made me remember when I received true salvation. I was a camp counselor for a church summer camp. It happened during worship. That day for some reason was very hard for me. Many of my kids started opening up to me and trusting me with their issues and seeking my counsel. I heard things I never had to experience at their age and I just felt their hearts. The song "touch of heaven" came on and I completely lost it. I witnessed true salvation not just for me but for hundreds of students. My heart cried out and worshiped. I felt everything at that moment. I felt all the pain, I felt all the joy, I felt the presence of Jesus. It was a lot. But it was the most beautiful experience I ever had with Jesus. 33:8 "Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him." Chapter 35: 2"Put on your armor, and take up your shield. Prepare for battle, and come to my aid." When you dedicate your life to Jesus you put on your armor of faith every day. Your shield should be so shined that anyone that crosses your path will see Jesus in you. Your sword is the way you deal with conflict, you show the Lord's mercy. Think Christlike. Act with love and judge righteously. Being a servant to Christ means we are to honor Him in everything we do. 35:28 "Then I will proclaim your justice, and I will praise you all day long."
