Last week I did not upload chapters 16-20, lately I have been just trying to live for the moments and reflect on what God is calling me to do in this season. I took a break from social media postings and focused more on how I can use this platform for the greater good. I have great ideas planned for the month of May! However, since I missed last weeks blog I will combine it here with this weeks post. I condensed it so it won't be too long!
For this blog, I will just talk about 1 verse that stood out to me since I have to do 10 chapters worth!
Disclaimer: My Bible is NLT. I will be referencing from NTL for the most part but for better understanding I may switch to a different translation. I will be sharing how I view the word and what God is speaking to me as I read.
Let’s jump into the word!
9 No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety.
Have you ever felt spiritually fed? When the day comes to an end, you go to bed feeling at ease. You know you can have a good nights rest because your heart is full.
8 Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.
I just love how David worded this. He wants God's protection to hover around him. It's a feeling of safety to know God is watching over him.
6 But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.
When I was younger, I did not grasp the idea of God listening to my prayers. I thought he would "come around to them." However, as I matured spiritually I realized how important my prayers are to him. God loves to listen to my prayers. He is filled with joy when I reach out to him because that shows him that I need his help to get me through whatever I am dealing with or he listens to the thanks I am praising him for. Your prayers are never too little or too big, he hears you.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
When I meet someone new, I want to let it be known that I am filled with the Holy Spirit. There is no better feeling for God to know you are spreading His love through others.
5 May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God.
This verse is absolutely beautiful! This is why I enjoy hearing testimonies. It just brings me joy to hear what God did, not just for me. When I hear stories of how God made a miracle out of someone unfortunate situation, I rejoice for them.
13 Rise up, O Lord, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.
Each morning, I turn on some praise and worship music. Either in the shower, during my coffee and bible study time or as I apply my makeup. I find singing praises to his name brings so much joy. I can not tell you the amount of times my heart was filled because I just sang a song in the morning.
20 Save me from the sword; spare my precious life from these dogs.
This verse can be interpreted in many different ways, however, when I read this the first thing that popped into my head was prayer. When was the last time you had a really good prayer? That type of prayer you just feel so relieved after saying "Amen." Those are the hardest, yet, strongest prayers. You find yourself going to the powerful Almighty to find rescue.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me and all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Let the one who created you be the one who defines you!
4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tells lies.
Praise God, not idols. No one will ever love like Him, joy is found in Him.
7 Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord.
Your past is your past. God moves on, you should too. Grow from who you once were to allow God to transform your heart.
